Tom grew up in Roswell, NM. Attended New Mexico Military Institute from whence he received a Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. He received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from the University of New Mexico. He served six years in the New Mexico Army National Guard.
In 1991, he completed an inter-service transfer into the Air Force and was selected to fly F-16 fighter aircraft for the New Mexico Air National Guard. He flew over1600 hours in the F-16 including numerous combat missions over the war torn regions of Bosnia, Herzegovina, Serbia, and Croatia. During which he was qualified at low level, night, terrain following interdiction, including self-designated laser guided bomb employment.
In 2003, after he completed training as Combat Operations Director, he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, (OEF) Operation Iraqi Freedom, (OIF) and Operations in the Horn of Africa, (HOA) where he functioned as Senior Offensive Duty Officer at the Combined Air Operations Center in Doha, Qatar. While there, he oversaw and managed all ongoing aerial offensive operations throughout the three theaters of operations and participated in senior level coordination between Polish and Spanish air services deployed in Iraq.
From 2003-2007, served the National Guard Bureau as the director of Joint Training where he directed the National Guard Bureau sponsored Exercise Patriot. There he coordinated the implementation of joint operational training for over 7700 National Guardsmen, Regular and Reserve Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine units, and foreign servicemen. He directly improved experiential joint training to improve soldier and airman expertise in joint operations.
Starting in 2009, he served as Global Operations Director and Deputy Director of Operations at the US Air Mobility Command, Tactical Air Command Center, (TACC) at Scott Air Force Base. There, he regularly coordinated and directed numerous strategic and tactical materiel and personnel movement around the world aboard Air Force and Chartered Military aircraft, in support of ongoing worldwide operations.
After 29 years in green (and brown) uniforms, he retired from military service in 2012. He currently flies the Boeing 777 for United Airlines where he has been employed (while not serving in military capacity) for 16 years. He is also owner of Amherst Plantation which is a 202 year old operating farm, event center, and bed and breakfast. Tom is the father of a son, 21, and daughter 20, who are currently attending colleges in Tennessee.Tom lives in Tennessee, not far from Nashville, with Jeannine, his wife of over 23 years.
Tom has known and worked closely with Robert Hollocher in a number of capacities since 2002, including deployment to the Iraq, National Guard Service in Missouri, and Illinois, and the AMC, TACC in Scott AFB.
